String Quartet at Mesón Sabika

An 1847 Georgian mansion with eight private dining rooms, each with its own hand-painted murals, and a purpose-built 5,000-square-foot Pavilion out back with a draped ceiling and vintage chandeliers. Naperville's longtime Spanish tapas restaurant turns into one of the suburbs' more atmospheric wedding properties the moment the dining room closes.

Spanish tapas and a wedding venue in the same building

The mansion dates to 1847, opened as Mesón Sabika in Spanish-tapas form more recently, and now covers four scenic acres near downtown Naperville. The property divides cleanly between the mansion, with its eight distinctive dining rooms (second-floor rooms accommodate up to 120), and the Pavilion, a 5,000-square-foot purpose-built event space with draped ceiling and vintage chandeliers, seating up to 270 for dinner.

Ceremonies often happen in the picturesque garden with the mansion as backdrop. Bartending, catering, and desserts are all handled in-house with a focus on traditional Spanish fare, which changes the menu conversation at most weddings here in ways that couples either embrace fully or route around.

Project String Quartet has performed across the Naperville and North Shore area for 200+ Midwest weddings. Founder Rebecca Hamilton is a conservatory-trained violinist whose ensemble brings the same Bridgerton-style pop arrangements alongside classical favorites that couples across Chicago book for. The quartet holds a 5.0 Google rating. If you're still weighing options, our guide to choosing a wedding string quartet and the playlist builder both help narrow down repertoire and ensemble size before you reach out.

Mansion rooms are small, Pavilion is big

Mansion dining rooms are intimate

The eight private dining rooms each run 15 to 40 seated; together the second floor reaches 120. These are tight, ornate, acoustically warm spaces where a duo fits perfectly and a trio is comfortable. A full quartet crowds them both physically (less seating for guests) and sonically.

Pavilion acoustics are modern

The 5,000-square-foot Pavilion is a purpose-built event space with a draped ceiling that actually helps acoustically, draping softens the reverb a hard-ceilinged room of the same size would have. We set up at the short end opposite the dance floor; the room supports standard tempos at full dynamic range.

Garden ceremonies

The picturesque garden offers mansion-backdrop outdoor ceremonies. We position the quartet near the mansion's stone foundation for an acoustic shell, and keep the Pavilion as the inside backup rather than the mansion (too many stairs and turns to move instruments quickly).

String Duo

Violin + Cello

The match for a small mansion dinner, one of the eight private rooms at its intimate 15-to-60-guest range. The duo is appropriately scaled for the period-detail interiors.

String Quartet

2 Violins + Viola + Cello

The step up for full Pavilion receptions at 250-to-270 guests or larger garden ceremonies using the Pavilion as backup. The mansion's smaller rooms consistently prefer the trio.
