St. Paul's Church opened on Reading Road in 1850, served Cincinnati for more than a century, and was decommissioned in 1975. When the Verdin Company bought the building in 1981 it was in extreme disrepair; the restoration ran about a million and a half dollars and took more than a decade. The Verdin offices moved out in the 1990s and the Bell Event Centre opened in 2001.
The sanctuary is the wedding room. Capacity runs 250 for ceremonies, 300 for receptions. Hand-painted murals, marble and terrazzo floors, vaulted ceilings, original stained glass in the upper windows, a cobblestone courtyard outside for cocktail hour in good weather. Receptions and ceremonies both happen in the sanctuary itself, with a twenty-minute flip between them.
Pendleton is walkable from Over-the-Rhine, Findlay Market, and most downtown hotels, which makes out-of-town guest logistics straightforward. If you are still comparing venues, see our full list of Cincinnati wedding string quartet venues.
